TUITION:  $135

Enrollment Includes:

  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum for parents and babies, ages newborn to 18 months
  • Class of no more than 12 babies with parents

  • Learn about 30 songs, lullabies and nursery rhymes and play over 100 activities together by the end of the classes
  • At-Home Materials  including:  A picture board book with charming farm animals and the sounds they make—Cock-a-doodle-Moo, digital downloads of the songs heard in class, a Sunshine Jingle instrument for music-making at home, and a set of Art Banners for the nursery wall.

What a Parent and Child Will Experience in Class:

  • Variety of Music -- Musical diversity builds strong neural in a baby’s forming mind, which is why each Kindermusik class contains an array of styles, sounds, and genres.
  • Instrument Play -- Age-appropriate experiences with child-safe instruments enhance a sense of rhythm and steady beat, develops a keen awareness of the distinguishing qualities of sound, and encourages spontaneity and creativity.
  • Dance -- A classroom full of baby and adult pairs dancing together helps a little body develop the muscle strength needed to crawl and walk and helps a little heart to fall in love with the sheer joy of responding to music.
  • Together Time -- A Kindermusik class is truly the essence of “quality time,” offering the parent a place to create special memories with their child, gain new insights into their child’s development, and nurture their child’s natural love of music.
  • Expert Advice -- A Kindermusik Educator explains “what-to-watch-for” every step of the way and how each activity enhances a child’s complete development.
  • Learning Continues at Home -- With the home materials, the learning continues at home with the child’s best teacher—the parent!

“OUR TIME” (Level 2) Class: (1 ½ through 3 Years Old)

Theme: Away We Go!

Hop on the train, get in the car, board the plane, and Away We Go! This class focuses on transportation, a favorite topic for toddlers who are on the go, go, go! Sing and play along with favorite songs, such as “I’ve Been Workin’ on the Railroad” and “Wheels on the Bus”. Explore fast and slow, smooth and bumpy, and high and low. Read stories about ways to get around. Shiny Dinah tells the story of a train, and Giddy-Up! has a horse, speedboat, racecar, and more to help you get where you want to go.

THURSDAYS:     January 6, 13, 20, 27   February 3, 10, 17, 24  March 3, 10  (11AM)

  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum for parents and toddlers,  ages 18 mo. thru 3 years
  • 10-Week Class
  • Weekly 45-minute class
  • At-Home Materials  including: digital downloads of songs from class; two interactive story books—Shiny Dinah and Giddy-Up! to develop early literacy skills; Home Activity Book, and two harmonicas designed for toddlers.

What a Parent and Child Will Experience in Class:

  • Instrument exploration and ensemble skill development -- Children will explore the physical characteristics and sounds of age-appropriate instruments which will eventually lead them to discover their potential for beat, rhythm, melody, and ensemble playing.
  • Vocal play -- Through vocal play, toddlers learn to form vowels and consonants, say words and phrases, and imitate rhythm and vocal inflection. In Kindermusik Our Time, vocal play is presented within the context of songs, chants, and activities done in class.
  • Exploration Time -- Children will love discovering specially designed instruments, textures, sounds, and movements.
  • Story time and early literacy -- Listening to stories enhances language and speech development and fosters awareness of sounds, teaches use of language, and sends the message that words and symbols have meaning. The same experiences that help toddlers learn to read a book also help them learn to read music.
  • Movement Activities -- Each class provides various opportunities for movement such as synchronized movement, group dances and circle games, and even expressive movement.
  • Together Time -- Kindermusik is the essence of quality time, allowing parents to make the most of the fleeting toddler years, giving them the time and the tools to make music and memories together in class and at home.
  • Expert advice -- A Kindermusik educator explains how the musically based activities enhance a toddler’s complete development.
  • Learning Continues at Home -- With the home materials, the learning continues at home with the child’s best teacher—the parent!

KINDERMUSIK CLASSES at

LEWIS & CLARK COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Music Preparatory School
Godfrey Campu
Kindermusik's "Move & Groove" is an award-winning enrichment program for preschoolers.
It is a research-based language and early literacy curriculum built around music.  This curriculum helps develop pre-literacy and language skills through a child’s most-loved rituals: music and storytime.  "Move & Groove" supports the early childhood standards and requirements for “high quality programs” as defined by the National Institute for Early Education. Plus, it  aligns with pre-K national and state standards.

Students who received Kindermusik instruction showed significantly larger gains (32% more improvement) on the Phonological Awareness Test ("PALS™") than did students who did not receive Kindermusik instruction. These results indicate that the Kindermusik program successfully boosts preschoolers’ language and literacy skills.

Kindermusik is music-making with a purpose.

Early introduction to music and movement impacts your child’s brain and body development in a way few other learning methods can. We should know. We’ve been transforming the lives of children, parents and teachers around the world since 1978.

Science has shown that children of any age learn more when the learning is playful and fun. Kindermusik kids laugh, smile, stomp, play, kick, clap, jump, sing, and dance. But having fun is just the beginning.

Steeped in educational theory, our programs engage the potential found in every child. Through our dynamic classes, in-school programs, and research-based curriculum, we excel at setting a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Our purpose is simple. We’re here to develop young minds and change the world. One child at a time.

Let it begin with Kindermusik®.

KINDERMUSIK BIRTHDAY PARTIES!!

Kindermusik Birthday Party Activity is great musical fun that your child will LOVE and you don’t have to plan! It’s approximately 30 minutes of a “mini-Kindermusik” class (i.e. music & movement with samplings of class activities) specially designed to be age-appropriate to your child. The party activity includes such fun as singing, moving, listening, dancing, circle songs, story time (a birthday book!), playing instruments, parachute play, etc. All music, instruments, props, etc used are provided for the activity.

Please Note:  I do not schedule parties on Sunday mornings.

Kindermusik One-Time Activities

I offer Kindermusik activities for children’s groups and have met up with play groups, preschools, and libraries to have some great musical fun with their children. Having a one-time activity is a great way to get a sampling of the Kindermusik experience before committing to a semester of classes!

Kindermusik Parent Talk and Sampler Class

I also offer educational talks to parent groups about music and childhood development as they relate to the benefits of the Kindermusik experience. I then follow-up with a sampler class for the whole family. Your school or church may want to consider scheduling Kindermusik for their next PTO meeting or special activity.

"KINDERMUSIK WITH ELLEN SINGH" PROGRAM

COURTESY INFORMATION
AND
CLASS POLICIES

 Program Policies

Choosing a Class

The age recommendations outlined for Kindermusik classes have been carefully constructed to best group children in an age and developmentally appropriate way.  Therefore, it is important that your child be at least the minimum age by the start date for the class in which you are enrolling.  If you have concerns about your child’s success in a particular age range, I would be happy to discuss your child’s needs and to work with you to place him/her in the class best suited for him/her.

Register Early
Although you may join a class at any time, please register early since class sizes are limited and many fill quickly.  If you enroll after the class begins, tuition can be pro-rated accordingly.  Payment in full is due at registration.  There is a $25 fee for returned checks.

Enrollment Confirmation
A class registration form and full payment must be received before enrollment can be confirmed.  You will receive an “Initial Class Information” E-mail shortly before class begins to confirm your enrollment.

Refunds

There are NO tuition refunds unless there are extreme extenuating circumstances                                and at the discretion of your teacher.

Child Illness Policy
In courtesy to other class participants, please do not bring your child to class if he/she has had any of the following symptoms within 24 hours prior to class time:                          fever, rash, diarrhea, vomiting, pink eye, etc.

Make-Up Classes
Classes will be made up only in the event of teacher absence and/or her children’s illness.  If inclement weather occurs and the SIUE Campus or Edwardsville District 7 Schools are closed, your class will be cancelled.  If in doubt, call me! (618-792-6190).                               I have my business phone with me and on.

Non-enrolled Siblings
Due to the carefully researched structure of the Kindermusik curriculum and for you, your child, and the group to get the most out of each class, do not bring non-enrolled siblings to class.

Making the Most of Kindermusik Classes

Plan to arrive about 5-10 minutes prior to your class time. Arriving a few minutes early  provides time for your child to settle into the musical environment as he/she prepares to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, and/or listening to music.  I do request that toys, juice cups, and pacifiers be kept out of sight, and that snacks/drinks be finished prior to class.  Be sure to dress comfortably.
During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active and patient role model.  It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class.  Don’t be discouraged - what a child is absorbing in class is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment rather than in a certain level of participation in class.  The understanding and consistency of the parent or caregiver in class and at home is key to facilitating musical learning and growth.
Parents, please visit with peers before and after class, but not during class time.  When you are an active, focused, enthusiastic participant in the class activities, your child will model your actions and focus more fully too.
You and your child will enormously benefit from the Kindermusik experience, especially if you make active use of your At Home Materials.  Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week makes all the difference in a child’s comfort and participation in the class room as well as in his/her developing life-long love of music.

Questions or Concerns?
If at any time during your class enrollment you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.   I look forward to having you and your child join us for a wonderful time of musical fun and learning together in Kindermusik class!

HEALTH AND SAFETY CLASS POLICIES

ATTENTION: COVID19 Safety Protocol

I take all aspects of everyone's health and safety very seriously for ALL of my Kindermusik classes. My classes are located in the SIUE Early Childhood Center (ECC) and Dunham Hall, so my protocols will be what they require at that time. I have had a detailed discussion with Becky Dabbs, ECC director, regarding Covid protocol including temperature checks, social distancing, masks, and sanitation stations.

All of my Kindermusik instruments and props are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected and every family will have their own set of instruments not to be shared with others. I will have hand sanitizer always available and request that everyone wash their hands with soap and water after they arrive in the building before class and after class. Masks will be required for everyone with the exception of the youngest children. Each family will have a designated space and be separated from other families by at least 6 feet. Serious emphasis will be made regarding my "class illness policy".

Much of the above protocol has always been a part of my Kindermusik classes and the far majority of my Kindermusik families are very conscientious about not sharing germs and illnesses.
All Covid protocol will be adhered to and in compliance with SIUE as well as the CDC and Restore Illinois.
Current Covid safety guidelines subject to change.

See “Healthy & Happy” Initiative Poster and Hand Sanitizer in Your Classroom:

1)  I wanted  to remind you that I continue to join in Kindermusik International’s Healthy & Happy initiative which is created to help protect you and your children from the spread of viruses like the H1N1 flu (also known as the “Swine Flu”).  By collecting facts, checklists, and prevention tips from the Centers for Disease Control, Kindermusik is making sure I am more prepared than ever to provide an environment much less likely to allow viruses to spread.

·       I am disinfecting toys and instruments at CDC standards to prevent transmission.

·       I have added hand sanitizer distribution to each child at the start and end of each class (under parent supervision with younger children).

·       I receive updated information on virus prevention and trends from the CDC.

2)  When a class activity suggests touching, such as holding hands in circle dances, it’s always your option to not hold hands.

3) I highly recommend washing hands with soap/water AND hand sanitizer before and after class.

4)  In courtesy to other class participants, please do not bring your child to class if he/she has had any of the following symptoms within 24 hours prior to class time:  fever, rash, diarrhea, vomiting.  And if YOU have symptoms of illness, please do not join us either. Thank you for not sharing. J

Safety in Our Kindermusik Classroom

I do my very best to make our classroom “child-friendly”.  However, I need your continued assistance and support in keeping ALL of our Kindermusik children safe and parents feeling comfortable during class….

Important Reminders:

1) Please DO NOT allow your children to crawl on top of or underneath the classroom furniture.
I want to prevent any mishaps from occurring.  Also, it can be a distraction to other children who may want to “follow suit”.

2) Please DO NOT allow your children to run around the room free with instruments in their hands.  Again, I want to prevent the potential injury to your child or another parent’s child that could easily occur in that scenario.

Your child’s health, safety, and happiness is important to me. You are such committed and wonderful Kindermusik parents. I know these issues are priorities to you as well.  Please contact me if you have further questions so I can be sure to make you feel at ease in coming to class!
