Kindermusik's "Move & Groove" is an award-winning enrichment program for preschoolers. It is a research-based language and early literacy curriculum built around music. This curriculum helps develop pre-literacy and language skills through a child’s most-loved rituals: music and storytime. "Move & Groove" supports the early childhood standards and requirements for “high quality programs” as defined by the National Institute for Early Education. Plus, it aligns with pre-K national and state standards.
Students who received Kindermusik instruction showed significantly larger gains (32% more improvement) on the Phonological Awareness Test ("PALS™") than did students who did not receive Kindermusik instruction. These results indicate that the Kindermusik program successfully boosts preschoolers’ language and literacy skills.
Class Structure: New unit theme for each month; each contains four lessons
- Songs and rhymes to develop phonetic awareness and early reading skills
- Tapping, clacking, and ringing rhythm instruments in time with music to improve hand-eye coordination
- Focused listening with music to improve skills in following directions
- Instrument play to strengthen fine motor skills
- Developmentally-appropriate songs to develop vocal chords and expressive speech
- Learning that emphasizes storytelling, imaginative play, and taking turns
- Developmentally appropriate curriculum
- 4-week classes with 12 different monthly themes
- State-of-the-Art Monthly Digital At-Home Materials

A Kindermusik Birthday Party Activity is great musical fun that your child will LOVE and you don’t have to plan! It’s approximately 30 minutes of a “mini-Kindermusik” class (i.e. music & movement with samplings of class activities) specially designed to be age-appropriate to your child. The party activity includes such fun as singing, moving, listening, dancing, circle songs, story time (a birthday book!), playing instruments, parachute play, etc. All music, instruments, props, etc used are provided for the activity.
Fees: $50 for up to six children ($7 per each additional child) Deposit ($40) due to secure your date/time w/ balance due day of the party (There may be a time/travel fee for parties booked outside the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon area.) Please Note: I do not schedule parties on Sunday.
I offer Kindermusik activities for children’s groups and have met up with play groups, preschools, and libraries to have some great musical fun with their children. Having a one-time activity is a great way to get a sampling of the Kindermusik experience before committing to a semester of classes!
I also offer educational talks to parent groups about music and childhood development as they relate to the benefits of the Kindermusik experience. I then follow-up with a sampler class for the whole family. Your school or church may want to consider scheduling Kindermusik for their next PTO meeting or special activity.

Choosing a Class
recommendations outlined for Kindermusik classes have been carefully
constructed to best group children in an age and developmentally appropriate
way. Therefore, it is important that
your child be at least the minimum age by the start date for the class in which
you are enrolling. If you have concerns
about your child’s success in a particular age range, I would be happy to
discuss your child’s needs and to work with you to place him/her in the class
best suited for him/her.
Although you may
join a class at any time, please register early since class sizes are limited
and many fill quickly. If you enroll
after the class begins, tuition can be pro-rated accordingly. Payment in full is due at registration. There is a $25 fee for returned checks.
A class registration
form and full payment must be received before enrollment can be confirmed. You will receive an “Initial Class
Information” E-mail shortly before class begins to confirm your enrollment.
There are NO tuition
refunds unless there are extreme extenuating circumstances and at the discretion of your teacher.
In courtesy to other
class participants, please do not
bring your child to class if he/she has had any of the following symptoms
within 24 hours prior to class time: fever, rash, diarrhea,
vomiting, pink eye, etc.
Classes will be made
up only in the event of teacher absence and/or her children’s
illness. If inclement weather occurs and
the SIUE Campus or Edwardsville District 7 Schools are closed, your class will
be cancelled. If in doubt, call me!
(618-792-6190). I have my
business phone with me and on.
Due to the carefully
researched structure of the Kindermusik curriculum and for you, your
child, and the group to get the most out of each class, do not bring non-enrolled siblings to class.
Making the Most of Kindermusik Classes
Plan to arrive about
5-10 minutes prior to your class time. Arriving a few minutes early provides time for your child to settle into
the musical environment as he/she prepares to enjoy exploring instruments,
reading books, and/or listening to music.
I do request that toys, juice cups, and pacifiers be kept out of sight,
and that snacks/drinks be finished prior to class. Be sure to dress comfortably.
During class, the
most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active and patient
role model. It is not uncommon for a
child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don’t be discouraged - what a child is
absorbing in class is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment
rather than in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consistency of the
parent or caregiver in class and at home is key to facilitating musical
learning and growth.
visit with peers before and after class, but not during class time. When you are an active, focused, enthusiastic
participant in the class activities, your child will model your actions and
focus more fully too.
You and your child
will enormously benefit from the Kindermusik experience, especially if you make
active use of your At Home Materials.
Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week makes all the
difference in a child’s comfort and participation in the class room as well as
in his/her developing life-long love of music.
If at any time
during your class enrollment you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to
contact me. I look forward to having
you and your child join us for a wonderful time of musical fun and learning
together in Kindermusik class!

I want to prevent any mishaps from occurring. Also, it can be a distraction to other children who may want to “follow suit”.
Foundations: 0 to 18 months
Foundations classes offer a sensory-rich yet caring and gentle environment where infants and young toddlers can explore and react to new sounds, sensations, objects, and movements.
Level 1: 12 to 24 months
Level 1 classes provide toddlers with a stimulating setting to explore their new movement and language skills with a sense of security, comfort, and confidence.
Level 2: 18 to 36 months
Level 2 classes encourage older toddlers to initiate their own ideas, nurturing social-emotional growth and cognitive development in a playful, exploratory environment.
Level 3: 3 to 5 years
Level 3 classes are designed to engage preschoolers’ natural love of music and activate their imaginations, while developing their growing language and social-emotional skills.
Level 4: 4 to 6 years
Level 4 classes offer first experiences with musical symbols and more advanced instruments, laying the groundwork for formal music introduction and ensuring school readiness.
Mixed-Age: 0 to 7 years
Mixed-age classes allow infants through seven-year olds—and their caregivers—to gather together for a fun-filled learning experience, accommodating all levels of learning and musical ability.
